Uganda: Day 9,10,&11

The last few days spent at the best safari park in Uganda: Murchison National park, where the Nnile river plunges through the Murchison Falls. It's a long bumpy road but it's through the Rift valley, yes THE Rift valley so you put up with a few bumps in the road.

Uganda: Day 7&8

The Ndali Lodge was the next stop in Kibale. The lodge has only 8 "huts" so it's a very intimate setting. This was the stay for 2 nights as we went Chimp tracking. Chimps are the evil clowns of the jungle in my opinion so I was a little hesitant to look for them but it was fun and they weren't that evil.

Uganda Day 5&6

Two nights at the Mweya Lodge was a decent stay. The lodge has average rooms compared to the tent in Ishasha but there were hippos in front of the room at night and warthogs all around. They also had a decent pool with a nice view of the river where elephants would come down to drink.

Uganda Day 4

This was the tent night. We slept in a tent along a river. Sounds more rustic than it is. The tent has a shower (you have to order it the night before so they can fill the tank) and the food is on white linen table clothes (very Out of Africa, I was expecting Meryl Streep to come out of one of the tents) Still, you do hear some lion's roaring and other odd sounds during the night.

Uganda Day 3

Since you get up so early to see the gorillas, you are pretty much spent the rest of the day. So after the trek we drove for a bit and stayed at the Gorilla Resort Camp in Buhoma. It has a great view and good food. You stay in a wooden platform with a very large tent over it. Rustic but very beautiful.

Uganda Day 3: Gorillas

What is there to say about tracking Gorillas. I would do it 100 times if it didn't cost $500 per 1 hr visit. Although you do get a jungle full of vines and bugs free for that price.

Uganda Day 2

Early morning walking Safari in Lake Mburo. There are not too many animals in Lake Mburo so it's safe....that's why the guide carries a rifle.

Uganda day 1

Day 1 was spent driving a few hours from Kampala to Lake Mburo. you cross the equator on this route which for some reason was a big deal to me. I was excited to do it although nothing particularly interesting happened.

Landing in Uganda

Business class on British Airways ROCKS!

We flew from SFO to London, took a shower in the Business class lounge area. Took another 8hr flight to Entebbe and landed around  8AM.  We didm't really take Air Uganda.
